Even as a young child, I was fascinated by wild things. My mother and grandmother took me berry and mushroom picking, and we always grew things to harvest and eat. A love for Mother Nature and what she provides connects me to my family and my past.
As an adult, I held onto these treasured habits. I was trying to buy bulk wild rice for myself and grew frustrated at how I could see it growing outside beside our dock in the lake.
This inspired the start of what began as Canadian Pure Wild Rice, now known as Foraged North. We work with harvesters and foragers to harvest our wild rice sustainably and respectfully, ensuring that it remains a gift for generations to come.
Foraged North is a Wabigoon-based business by Kailey Divers.
